Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was no-doubt a non muslim. Though he is claimed to be a muslim by Hindu people, but the reality is that his belief is fully similar to Hinduism's vedanta philosophy.
.
If you look deeply, he used to read Gita and hindu scriptures and appreciated them more than Quran and Hadith. Even he was very much delight to visit the places of Hindu swamis.
.
I even doubt, in his whole life, whether he understood any verse of the Quran or not!!
.
In his autobiography, Mr Kalam is telling,
.
"I **had not faintest idea of the meaning of the Arabic prayers** chanted, but I was totally convinced that they reached God."
.
(Wings of Fire/Strong Roots;
Autobiography of APJ Abdul Kalam)
.
It was the time of his childhood when he had no idea about the real meaning of salah or namaz. When he asked his father about prayer, his father gave an explanation which is not Islamic at all!
.
"When I was old enough to ask questions, I asked my father about the relevance of prayer.
.
My father told me **there was nothing mysterious about prayer.** Rather prayer made possible ***a communion of the spirit between people.***
.
"When you pray," he said, "you **transcend your body** and **become a part of the cosmos,** which knows no division of wealth, age, caste, or creed."
.
(Wings of Fire/Strong Roots;
Autobiography of APJ Abdul Kalam)
.
Now look, Mr Kalam's father is explaining that we are the part of the cosmos and prayer reminds us such feeling only, it is not so mysterious. Now compare a thing below.
.
Bhagabat Gita is saying:
.
"And when you have thus learned the truth, you will know that ***all living beings are but part of Me—and that they are in Me***, and are Mine."
.
(Bhagabat Gita, 4:35)
.
.
Same words had been said by Mr Kalam's father that everything is the part of God. The part of the cosmos actually indicates the same meaning.
.
"He once told me, "In his own time, in his own place, in what he really is, and in the stage he has reached - good or bad - ***every human being is a specific element within the whole of the manifest divine Being***..."
.
(Wings of Fire/Strong Roots;
Autobiography of APJ Abdul Kalam)
.
So, what are you seeing my dear muslim brothers and sisters??
Check the Quranic point of view also:
.
أَوَلَا يَذْكُرُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَمْ يَكُ شَيْـًٔا
.
"But does not man call to mind that **We created him before *out of nothing*?**
.
(The Noble Quran, Surah Maryam, 19:67)
.
.
So, Allah has created us out nothing whereas Mr Kalam's father is teaching that we are the part and parcel of God! It is completely "shirk"(association of partner with Allah)!!!
.
Not only that, there's something left! When Kalam was asking his father why his father did not tell such words to other people who came to him for spiritual help, Kalam's father explained in such way that he is a mediator between Shaitan(Evil) and the people!!!
.
""Why don't you say this to the people who come to you for help and advice?" I asked my father........
.......For the people who come to me in distress, ***I am but a go-between in their effort to **propitiate demonic forces** with prayers and offerings. This is not a correct approach at all and should never be followed..."
.
(Wings of Fire/Strong Roots;
Autobiography of APJ Abdul Kalam)
.
.
Now, Islam has made such type of intercession forbidden whether it is between Allah and His creation or, between evil and the people. Allah says,
.
.
"And those whom they invoke besides Allah have no power of intercession;- only he who bears witness to the Truth, and they know (him)."
.
(The Noble Quran, Surah Az-Zukhruf, 43:86)
.
.
And last but not the least, APJ Abdul Kalam followed his father's teaching throughout his life which is a clear indication that Mr Kalam's belief was not Islamic at all (as His father's belief was un-islamic).
.
"I have, throughout my life, tried to emulate my father in my own world of science and technology. I have endeavoured to understand the fundamental truths revealed to me by my father..."
.
(Wings of Fire/Strong Roots;
Autobiography of APJ Abdul Kalam)
.
.
Furthermore, I am giving some other points for easy understanding of his un-islamic practises.
.
I am quoting from Wikipedia below:
.
"In addition to his faith in the Koran and Islamic practice, Kalam was well-versed in Hindu traditions; he learnt Sanskrit[ read the Bhagavad Gita and he was a vegetarian.
***Kalam also enjoyed writing Tamil poetry, playing the veena (a South Indian string instrument), and listening to Carnatic devotional music every day.***"
.
.
.
"Kalam's desire to meet spiritual leaders to help create a more prosperous, spiritual, and unified India was what initially led him to meet ***Pramukh Swami, the Hindu guru*** of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sampradaya, who Kalam would come to consider ***his ultimate spiritual teacher and guru.***
.
The first of eight meetings between Kalam and Pramukh Swami over a fourteen-year period took place on 30 June 2001 in New Delhi, during which Kalam described being immediately drawn to Pramukh Swami's simplicity and spiritual purity.
.
***Kalam stated that he was inspired by Pramukh Swami throughout their numerous interactions.****
.........
....Pramukh Swami prayed for, and sprinkled holy water upon, the sites of all of the deceased, including the terrorists, demonstrating the view that all human life is sacred. Kalam recalled being moved by Pramukh Swami's equanimity and compassion, citing this incident as one of his motivations for writing Transcendence: My Spiritual Experiences with Pramukh Swamiji.
.
Summarising the effect that Pramukh Swami had on him, Kalam stated that ***"[Pramukh Swami] has indeed transformed me. He is the ultimate stage of the spiritual ascent in my life*** ... Pramukh Swamiji has put me in a God-synchronous orbit. No manoeuvres are required any more, as I am placed in my final position in eternity."...."
.
.
.
"In the fourth section, entitled “Evolution of Creative Leadership,” Kalam shares the lessons on leadership he learned from Pramukh Swami. As co-author Professor Tiwari has described, “If you look at the leadership of Pramukh Swamiji... his management, his leadership I have not seen anywhere.”..."
.
.
.
So, it is high time to be cautious. Though Mr Kalam was a man of morality, but it does not mean that we have also to follow his un-islamic attitude blindly.
